Expansion of knowledge
With harder challenges solved comes easier answers.
With the challenge of cultivating Mars comes a lot of knowledge and understanding about our sciences.
Two major areas of development will be in the fields of planetary and botanical sciences
How will we expand our knowledge?
Planetary Sciences
As scientists learn to adapt Mars to a more Earth-like environment, they will understand more about how planets function and how to change them in a more positive and impactful way, which will be implemented onto Earth next. Mars is a true fresh start and it’s because of this that we can learn how planets function, how to perfect them, then how to apply that knowledge to planets like Earth or future planets.
Botanical Sciences
As scientists and botanists figure out how to cultivate Mars with plants, our botanical understanding and grows and thrives with them. Additionally, NASA is bioengineering a plant that will adapt to the nutrient availability, environment, and will be consumable. If successful, this will be an incredible resource on Earth and could be our first step to solving world hunger: what if instead of grass in your lawn, it was a consumable plant? Botany could be the answer to cultivating Mars and improving Earth significantly.
